Right now in California, masses of wildflowers are blooming all at the same time. If a superbloom could express itself in art, we think it might look and sound like this month’s film by Archie Carey & Odeya Nini and mail art by Janet Macías.
Archie and Odeya’s sound film, Intangible Currents, collages footage of nature alongside a musical improvisation with voice and pump organ to highlight the wild, vivid interconnectedness of nature and the magic of how it flows through and around us.
Painter and ceramicist Janet Macías’s intuitive, and sometimes impulsive, process works to channel a surreal flow of energy from nature, romanticized visions, and dreams in the astral plane. Her small, otherworldly sculptures and colourful abstract paintings ride the waves of self-reflection.
